Echo

narcissus2She left the noisy city to escape

The crowds.

Festival time always brought

Out the worst in people.

A day in the country

With only her thoughts for company

Would be heaven;

Honey, crust and grape.

She found him

Hours from  humanity

Gazing into the water.

The tanned and taught body

Of a hunter.

With the awe of a human

Who has walked into the realm of a god

She sits and admires.

He ignores-

Self-seeking and disconnected.

She lingers

Subservient

Alone

Waiting for his reply.
