It was a windy day:
The north whispered a
Cold blessing.
The sun danced with the clouds
Curious but aloof.
The team worked in silence;
Bookmarked by the methodical sound of shovel
Hitting stone.
There was a vitality in the air;
Talk within the group of a discovery.
Soil was giving up her secrets.
It was Lea,
Wearing her lucky
“Give peace a chance,” sweater
Who found the
Perhaps she was created for
This moment?
The unveiling.
Her hands shook
She was burying her father again;
Uncovering a deep
It would take months of work
To reveal the bones
That were placed in the ground
By gentle hands;
Fresh with loss
Nine hundred years earlier.
Scientific analysis
Would support
Lea’s feeling;
This girl was mourned by
Her family.
A solitary golden ring was found
On her finger.
Te amo-
I love you.
