I have seen you on the bus, in a crowded room and in a car.  I thought I found you once in high school- it was certainly the closest I got to you.

So many songs make me think of you, when I am alone I long for you.

If I indulge in imagining you, I think you are blond with blue eyes- but I have seen you take on a handsome form with darker features.  You are certainly smart, funny and loyal.

I sometimes wonder if I will ever find you- maybe that‘s ok.  Possibly my life lesson is a more solitary nature- and there is certainly more to life than you.

But still my eyes will scan the crowd, I will search for you with every new acquaintance – and someday, if I am lucky- you will appear in the flesh.

I will keep vigil for you and wait- not as a nun in a solitary cell waiting for the grace of God, but as an engineer of old, who throws more coal into a furnace to keep a train running.
